What is a Consulting Forester and why do I need one?
Consulting Foresters can be thought of as general contractors for tree stuff. We have knowledge, education and experience to handle just about any project involving trees and forests. Logging, fuel reduction, road building, reforestation are just a few of the tools in our toolkit.
Why do I need a forester?
We Work for YOU!
A consulting forester works for you, the landowner. We are not employed by mills or loggers. We have a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that all contracts and arrangements are fair, legal and in your best interest.
While mill foresters may offer a low cost solution connecting the dots for a timber harvest they are primarily looking to bring as many of your logs to their mill as possible while paying as little as possible for the logs. We collect bids from multiple mills and logging contractors to ensure you get the most for your logs.
Market Knowledge
We make our living on the timber market. We can advise you on market considerations and help schedule harvests accordingly. We work with all area log markets and logging contractors to get the best price for your logs harvested by qualified operators for reasonable rates.
We have access to specialized markets. Firewood, beetle killed timber, oversized, rotten cedar? No problem we can find a home for those logs!
Contracts and Insurance
We are not a fly by night operation and we don't work with fly by night contractors. We and our contractors are licensed and insured. We use simple, yet robust contracts to protect our clients
Here for the Long Haul.
Inland Northwest forests have fed our family gor over 100 years and we want to keep that going. We stick with you after the harvest is complete, with reforestation, fuel reduction and weed abatements until the next harvest. If I harvest your property I'm planning on my sons and grandsons working on that property 20,30, 40 years from now.
